Exciting news for health practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and community members in Darwin! Registrations are now open for the 2025 International MJD Foundation Conference, set to take place from 6-9 May 2025 in Darwin.

The MJD Foundation (Australia) proudly invites participants to our third international conference dedicated to Machado-Joseph Disease and other hereditary ataxias. After the successful gatherings in Cairns, Far North Queensland, and Washington, USA, we are particularly excited to bring this significant event to the Northern Territory—the very home of the MJD Foundation.

This year’s theme, “Bridging Science and Service: Research and Culturally Responsive Healthcare for Cerebellar Ataxia”, emphasises the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing culturally responsive healthcare delivery. The conference will feature a number of renowned keynote speaker such as Prof. Dr. Thomas Klockgether, a distinguished clinical scientist specialising in neurology who will share his extensive expertise. Attendees can look forward to an engaging program, including opportunities to present the latest scientific developments and discuss best practices for care and understanding of spinocerebellar ataxias.

“This conference presents a crucial opportunity to bring together global experts and stakeholders in the field, promoting collaboration and innovation. Participants will engage in meaningful discussions and exchange insights that will help shape the future of care for those affected by these conditions.

The significance of this event extends beyond just the discussions held; it represents a commitment to building a legacy of knowledge and support that can impact lives for years to come. By uniting diverse perspectives and expertise, this conference aims to pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in research and healthcare delivery, ensuring that the voices of those affected by these conditions are heard and prioritised.” Jacquie Hatt, Acting CEO MJD Foundation
