Jock's holiday to QLD

Jock at Australia Zoo with the snakeJock has just had a wonderful trip to QLD where he has been everywhere from Australia Zoo and Seaworld, to relaxing at beachfront holiday cabins and shopping near the Glass House mountains in Montville.  He's bought himself a few new things, like this great hat, and we think he's enjoyed the food alot too. We even managed a smile when Jock held the snake at Australia Zoo.

Bryan and Jock are today (Monday 19th Oct) on their way back to Groote Eylandt.

Jocks FamilyHere's Jock's itinerary (he's been very busy):

Volunteer carer Bryan Massey traveled to Groote on Saturday 10th October and escorted Jock back to Darwin on a Vincent Aviation flight on Sunday 11th. Jock's family and most of his grandchildren came to the airport to say goodbye to him.

Darwin Airport InnThey stayed overnight at the Darwin Airport Inn and were very well looked after by the staff there, and on Monday 12th at lunch time they travelled to Brisbane on a big Qantas Jet and arrived around 5pm. It took ages to get the car from the long term car park and Jock was hungry for a cigarette!

Scarborough CabinThey then traveled to Scarborough a little town on the Redcliffe Peninsular to their accommodation which was a cute little pink cabin right on the seaside. Scarborough is about 15 minutes travelling time in the car to Bryan and Kathy's home in Bracken Ridge. Bryan stayed with Jock and they settled in well. On Tuesday they slept in for a while and then did some looking around and went to the shops to buy some clothes and food. They had lunch at a big shopping Nice Big Bedcentre, went around to Libby's house to visit Gayangwa and had an early night. Jock had a really big bed all to himself and Bryan had a small bunk but both of them were happy . The little cabin was very comfortable.

SeaworldOn Wednesday they travelled to Bracken Ridge to pick up Kathy and then to New Farm in the city to pick up Gayangwa and Libby's boys Sam and Alex. They travelled to the Gold Coast for a big adventure at Sea World. It was a very hot day and the water was cool.

Jock swimming with the dolphinsSam and Alex helped Jock when he went into the water to swim with the Dolphins. Jock had a very friendly Dolphin all to himself and really enjoyed the time. There were lots of other animals to see as well and Jock enjoyed the sharks and fish and the Polar Bears.

Jock and Bryan eating hamburgersLunch time was especially good and Bryan and Jock enjoyed their hamburgers.  It was especially good to have Gayangwa for company and she had a good time too, she was also a big help and did a lot of interpreting for Jock.

On Thursday Bryan and Jock had a boys day out looking at a car museum where there were lots of cars and lots of them were Fords!!!
They then went for a road trip to the Somerset Dam where Brisbane gets its water from and looked around the countryside.

Shopping MontvilleFriday, Kathy and Gayangwa joined with Jock and Bryan and we went driving to the Sunshine Coast hinterland to a little town called Montville. There are lots of craft shops and we had a good look around, bought some things.

Jock eating his morning teaAnd had some really big scones, jam and lots of cream for morning tea. They were the biggest scones we had seen.
After looking around and talking to people , it was a friendly town and a lot of people asked what the MJD Foundation was as we wore our hats and T Shirts.

Glass BlowingWe then went to Yandina where we looked at glass blowing and watched some people make beautiful bowls and glasses . It was hot but we had a good time as it was very interesting.  Jock liked looking at the Glasshouse Mountains along the way. There is a big Ginger Factory at Yandina but we didn't go there.

On Friday night we went to Craig Massey's and Kylie's place for dinner and Craig and Jock talked in lingo about Angurugu. Jock and Gayangwa also met Craig's little girls and they all had a great time together.

Don't you love Jocks new cowboy hat?

Australia ZooSaturday we left early and went to Australia Zoo about 1 and 1/2 hours from Brisbane. It is a really fabulous place and we spent all day walking around looking at birds, crocodiles, elephants, koalas, kangaroos and really big python snakes, Jock was really happy to have his photo taken with a very big python snake! We had a BBQ tea at Kathy and Bryan's house with Libby's family.

Australia Zoo with the crocSunday we went to do some serious shopping at Chermside shops, a very big shopping centre. Jock bought some new jeans, some cd's some dvd's, sunglasses and a new cd player plus some jellybeans.
