Social and Emotional Wellbeing project

The MJD Foundation has kicked off an exciting Social and Emotional Wellbeing project with the young men of Groote Eylandt who are affected by Machado Joseph Disease. This project combines psychological support along with cultural activities to strengthen the young mens' resilience.

This project follows on from our 2009 Coca Cola Young Men's Camp.Young Men's Camp

 Social and Emotional Wellbeing

In December 2010, we held a weekend of viewing the footage filmed at the Young Men's Camp, fishing and determining what the next steps in the project would be.

Clinical psychologist Dr Damien Howard and filmmaker Justin Brown, both who attended the 2009 Camp, worked with the Groote young men to design an innovative project that combines filmmaking and other activities such as fishing, to encourage social and emotional strength, create empowerment and validate the young men's experiences.
