If I asked you what you thought the most horrible disease known to man was, what would your guess be? Chances are, a condition called Machado Joseph Disease would not spring to mind. MJD – as its known – is a disease with no cure. A disease that debilitates and destroys the body, that sufferers can live with – a fully functioning mind imprisoned in a useless body – for as long as 20 years. And it’s a disease that until recently had no organisation advocating for its sufferers. And it’s a disease that is particularly prevalent in the communities of Groote Eylandt.

MJD Foundation Chairperson Libby Morgan joins us this morning to talk about the disease, and the work of the MJD Foundation.
