BIG Research Workshop

BIG Research Workshop

MJDF staff members Libby (Director, Research and Education), Julie (Aboriginal Health/Community Worker; Co-Researcher) and Desireé (Research Officer) recently returned from the Better Indigenous Genetic (BIG) Health services workshop at the Uni of Melbourne. The workshop explored barriers to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing clinical genetics services and receiving appropriate care. This research will help inform the development of resources and education to improve genetic services for MJDF clients and families, and others with complex health conditions. We look forward to continued participation and advocacy on this project.

This research is jointly funded by the Lowitja Institute and the NHMRC, with contributions by the MJDF and other partner organisations: NT Dept of Health, Genetic Services WA, Office of Population Genomics WA, and Dept of Health and Genetic Health QLD.
